Steve Round's departure before the start of this season was due to a disagreement with the other coaches, with his opinion being that Raya displacing Ramsdale would be disruptive to the squad.

I guess we have to get used to this level of ruthlessness if we want the club to perform as well as it can. I like Ramsdale but the interview where he said he and Arteta had to compromise on his positioning- because he wasn't comfortable with Arteta's instructuons- is damning.

I trust Arteta, and I trust his judgement on how to play more than Ramsdale, Steve Round, or anyone else for that matter.

I think nearly everyone was thinking that - pundits, fans, other teams' supporters, everyone. Goalkeeper would have been last on my list of upgrades last summer, but I'm pleased to say I was wrong on that.
