Souls-like is such an uninspired name for a genre. Metroidvania is much better in that regard.

I agree; but I also can't help but remember how long it took for "ARPG" to be coined and we stopped calling everything a "Diablo-clone." Or how we still refer to things similar to Rogue as rogue likes. Do we, as gamers, just... Suck at naming things? 🤔

we still need to say Diablo clone because everything is an ARPG now, look at the tag on Steam

Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

Doom is an ARPG.

To be fair, naming things is hard.

MOBA was pretty quickly adopted.

Naming things is in NP-hard.

It's hard to get a name that is easily understandable by most people. Appending "-like" to popular/institutional games is useful in that regard. It is nice when a good name is coined, though.

On that note, nothing's stopping you from making your own suggestions. If everyone just waits for someone else to do it, it's less likely to happen at all.

Never heard of this game, although it just releasing on early access is probably why.

Ori 1 & 2 are some of my favorite games, looking up a few trailers and gameplay videos for this, seems like it might be fun. As a rule I never buy early access games, but I hope this develops into a great game I can play in a few years.

If not... Maybe Ori 3 sooner? Either way I'll wait. (And maybe get this game between)

I'd recommend IronPineapple on YouTube. He does Souls-like game reviews (though tbh half the games he reviews fit that definition in the loosest of ways), and his most recent video has a long segment where he plays through the EA content for No Rest, and he seemed to like it okay.

This game honestly feels like a mobile game adapted to PC with its weird inventory limits, real time build timers ,daily/weekly quests and excessive resource farming. I kinda feel like they'll slap on a premium currency to make the aforememtioned stuff more convenient.

Well that’s a real shame. Ori was delightful, and great for an adult with other hobbies
