Nintendo still doing their very best to become a villian.
Change the colors, make the fat ones skinny and the skinny ones fat. Rerelease it as parody assets. Done.
Also add a F to every character name like FLuigi, and Marfio or Bowfser
I saw some rumors that it was just a malicious 3rd party imitating Nintendo DMCA’s. It would explain why Nintendo would care about a 15+ year old game.
Garry himself got confirmation that it was actually Nintendo
Nintendo does takedown like this all the time. I haven't seen anybody actually point at evidence of fraudsters, and there is no reasonable benefit to doing this as a fraud. There is no avenue of profit.
You thought Mario was a plumber but he’s actually a mob boss
