For me the filtering works just fine, but you can also just go to the user profile and select "block", that would be the official lemmy function. You might need to scroll a bit to the right in the user toolbar on the profile.

I eventually tried this and it seemed to work. I might be seeing a bug here because by using the filter function, it did not work (I made sure the username I block is the same) but using the block function on the individual post worked.
Can you not block it in your actual Lemmy settings in the webui?
I did not try this. The reason I am asking this in this community is that I was trying it out in Sync and could not get it to work. But apparently, using the block function on the post worked. Did I just find a bug?
I’m thinking so. I don’t even use sync so I can’t test. Just wanted to give you a way of getting rid of the annoyance. According to @[email protected] in this post, it does work.
Don't even need to leave the app, there's a user blocking feature in the app.
Well I’d leave the app if the app wasn’t working at doing that job. That’s what this post is about.
Hello there, could you let me know if you can see this ?
I see it.
Not sure what you mean or why I'm downvoted. OP says they want to hide posts made by an account in the app. You say to block it in actual Lemmy settings in the webui. I say you can do that in the app as well, don't need to use web UI. That's all.
This post is literally about how it does not work in the app so I don’t know what you are talking about. I was giving them a quick easy work around if it truly isn’t working.
The post is about filtering not working. Blizzard suggested using the block feature instead.
Just tested, and blocking does work.
I hope we'll see the user and community filters eventually synced with the user and community account blocklist at some point.
