Edwin and Charles are best friends, ghosts… and the best detectives on the Mortal plane. They will do anything to stick together – including escaping evil witches, Hell and Death herself. With the help of a clairvoyant named Crystal and her friend Niko, they are able to crack some of the mortal realm’s most mystifying paranormal cases.

Dead Boy Detectives is based on the beloved comic series from Neil Gaiman, and a new addition to The Sandman Universe for Netflix.

“Dead Boy Detectives” will be premiering globally on Netflix on April 25, 2024.

Are these the same dead detectives that where in an episode of doom patrol?

Yes and no. Originally this series was going to be a spinoff of Doom Patrol. But then they recast the leads and decided to move it to the Sandman universe (they did appear in the Sandman comics back in the day).

So same characters, different universe and actors now.

What's the over under on this one being canceled after 1 season while I'm in the middle of streaming it?

The description, minus the word Sandman, matches a whole bunch of Netflix's recent shows, all of which were amazing and canceled almost immediately.

The attachment to Sandman might be enough to keep it going yknow

A "paranormal expansion" to a 100% supernatural-out-of-the-gate show? Seems like odd phrasing.
