I don't know much about physics and aerodynamics and all that jazz, so I'm just curious how effective are the windshields on motorcycles? Was kinda wondering if they're actually useful for redirecting the wind while riding, or if it's more for safety from debris that could get thrown up off the road?

ETA: Thanks for the replies, and for entertaining my curiosity!

Sometimes I just don’t want to look at faces. Sometimes not even my own— I have to force myself to meet my own eyes. In public it’s either no eye contact or just a furtive glance. At work I catch myself accidentally drifting my eyes somewhere else like the floor or a random tool bag.

I know we’re all put together differently but this seems to be something a lot of people now have.

I'm usually totally against huge corporations on principle, but there's definitely one that I can't criticise and maybe even like, Even though I don't buy any of their products.

Mine:

  1. Learn a second language and keep up with the language your parents speak. You will regret being a brat about not wanting to speak this language especially as your family members pass.
  2. The only opinions about you that really matter are from the people you respect and who respect you back
  3. Being a kind humble person, who leads their political convictions with curiosity and not self righteousness is important. As that one person said: "I am no hero and neither are you."
  4. Don't throw out your old media (mix cds, tapes, records, photos, zinee, etc) because you think they're embarrassing. They either will not be embarrassing later or they will become expensive and you can tell them for mad bucks.

I used to be a passionate gamer, and I often find myself nostalgic for the golden era of video games when there were new ideas popping left and right.

Now, it feels like we’re caught between long-delayed triple-A titles and a constant stream of indie platformers. Originality seems to have taken a backseat, with many games regurgitating the same concepts.

What do you think defined the golden era of gaming? Are we currently in a rut, or is there a chance for fresh ideas to emerge again?

There are honey cured meats and sugar seems to do the same thing as salt. I don't think I've seen anyone say sugar pickles. Anyone know? Yes, I googled it.

I'm hoping to find a turtleneck with a turtle on it, or something with a similar vibe. It's not surprisingly difficult to find listings on Etsy or elsewhere that gave both the words "turtle" and "turtleneck".

I'm going to play a turtle person in an upcoming TRRPG game, and I wanted a fun shirt to commemorate it. I'll buy a plain green and figure out an iron-on patch if I must, but this feels like something that should already exist!

Would appreciate another set of eyes.

They now have money, no one can see if they're good looking and a powerful job, and still no one likes them.

These are all good people and worth fighting for. Did you all leave the country? It doesn't have to be to raise money, it could just be to show how awesome these people are/were.

It always feels strange once the orchestra stops playing and it's the composer that bows for applause.

Now there's NodeBB. Although it doesn't yet have an Android app, I'm excited about the potential return of old-school forum software that it represents.

I recently saw someone creating a bingo chart for 2025 so I decided to create one for 2026 (image of this post). What are your predictions for 2026?

Lobster is so so so overrated. 75% of the weight is shell. You could get tiger or argentinian shrimp for the same price per pound if not cheaper and you get 4 times more edible meat by weight.
