Don’t reverse proxies like pangolin just do the job? Does it have to be VPN in this particular concept? VPN isn’t like immune to vulnerabilities.

The article stated no reasons why it happened whatsoever.

I’ve been using fossified calendar. It’s okay but I kind of want prettier UI. Do you have any suggestions?

FOSS is welcome. It’s okay if it’s not anti consumer.

I can’t seem to figure out. And no matter how I change the sort mechanism from Hot to Scaled it goes back to Hot.

Ikr. I hope it’s just icmp ping to whatever address or smth. I don’t have in-depth knowledge of wireshark so might be a tough journey

I have recently enforced a better privacy practice for my smart home devices, that includes creating a new access point for those devices and blocking them of internet access with VLAN.

Since then, my yeelight minas celiing lights goes unavailable whenever I physically switch them off and turn them on afterwards.

One really stupid thing is it needs internet access for using LAN control feature. it's really really dumb.

but at the same time, in this kind of age where everything wants to phone their home, i need to somehow mitigate this in every possible way such as by fooling the devices as if they have access to the internet.

Is this kind of things possible?

thanks!

Looks aside, buttons feel like buttons again!

One thing that comes to my mind is you don’t have to deal with port forwarding. But does it decrease overall attack surface in any way? My big plus for using tailscale at all is it has basically zero attack vectors other than through devices through devices on the same tailnet.

I hope Valve will improve regional availability in the future

I love how Mlem has adopted iOS 26 theme so well that Reddit app looks very dull. And I also love that it’s open source, the community and the freedom of choice of clients.

after long day at my job, i just wanna kick back and relax. maybe holding a controller instead of keyboard and mouse would be nice.

i like stardew valley but the experience with controller is just poor. it's just not designed to work that way (even with the controller mod). thus the question. Any cool ideas?

With the recent windows 10 EoL news, I was able to move my dad over to Linux mint. But he does a lot of finance stuff. Long ago, Linux had a belief that desktop Linux are not the primary target for crackers but I don’t believe that true anymore since it’s getting significantly popular lately like Europe government migration over to Linux and Libreoffice.

My question would be , given my dad is just as careful on Linux as he has been on windows, would it be fine to do finance like banking and trading (not the fastest kind )?

If not, what would be your distro of choice for that? Even browsers (I installed Firefox and Edge from Microsoft website deb file)

For power saving measure, I'd like to let my windows 11 pc go hibernate even when a game is running. You know, just like Nintendo Switch and PlayStation does after 30 min of inactivity e.g. not touching the controller. There are many resources to NOT let the computer go sleep. But I'm looking for a way to do the opposite. I only do streaming games from the win11 pc using Apollo/Moonlight btw though. So I actually play games on another laptop.

I have been hearing about this keyboard recently. And man do I look stupid how I underestimated the low-profile mech keebs.

My first experience with low-profile universe was Keychron K3 back in 2020 or smth. And honestly, I was quite underwhelmed by that thing. It was not a bad keyboard. But the sound and the feel was no where near as good.

The sound is creamy and the feel is on the light side, which I didn't expect I prefer. But the number is the cruel evidence. With my Crush 80 Pro, I was getting 85 at-best. And with Flow Lite, I'm getting over 100 consistently what the hell?! i'm so confused.

This is only one day in and I'm already feeling like this is the true end game keyboard for me.

Btw i got the pink one. And it looks awesome!!

Same lol. Can’t be that catastrophic. Right? …. Right?

[-] tiz@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah. My point being in terms of AI use, there aren’t really differences between lemmy and Reddit since the data is public. I don’t even see the point why this topic is relevant to privacy.

[-] tiz@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago

I wonder what’s different on lemmy though. At the end of the day, this platform is just another platform on the internet which almost anybody have access to. Sure AI use is not on the ToS. But anything open access is assumed to be privacy unfriendly anyway. If it’s the dm feature, it’s a different story.

[-] tiz@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago

Mine does that too. Honestly I’d blame Apple for this shitty implementation of keyboard sound. This behavior is not only on Mlem.

This one is such an overlooked part of this whole dilemma. The problem is NOT THAT the official servers not allowing clients without kernel level anti cheat. It’s just we don’t have an option to host our own servers anymore and we’re confined to following the rules.
