New York’s state budget could pass within days. Buried deep in the text is a provision that has nothing to do with balancing the books. Part C of the budget bill would require every 3D printer sold in New York to run surveillance software that scans every design file you create, and blocks anything an algorithm flags as a potential firearm component . A separate provision would expose researchers, journalists, and educators to felony charges simply for possessing or sharing certain design files.

GLADEVIEW, Fla. (WKRC) - A mother allegedly repeatedly beat her son and even threatened to kill him after he accused her of cheating on his stepfather.

According to a criminal complaint and arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, police became aware of the situation when the 12-year-old victim told school officials that his mother had inflicted injuries onto him. The injuries included "a contusion with lacerations on his left face next to his left eye" and multiple other smaller injuries across his body.

The victim told police that on the day prior, his mother picked him up from school and "began to drive him in his stepfather's vehicle to the Gwen Cherry Park to meet for practice." The mother was identified as 32-year-old Lucianny Lizbeth Luna by authorities.

"The defendant was on the phone talking to who he believed [was a] male his mother was cheating with," the charging document read.

Luna reportedly told the man on the phone that she was taking her son to the park "to play," but her son chimed in and said that he wasn't going to "play" but was just going there so his coach can pick him up.

"The defendant then struck the victim in the face with her right hand, slapping him in the middle of his face," an officer wrote. "The defendant then grabbed his hair, pulled it, and struck him on the back of his head, approximately eighteen to nineteen times, with a small glass bottle."

"The victim stated that after he was hit, he felt in shock and froze for a moment, and the defendant began to shake him. The victim stated that when they were closer to his residence, she then attempted to slash him with her keys. The victim tried to deflect the strike, but the key stabbed him in his right palm. I observed a small laceration to his right palm."

Upon entering the home, the victim allegedly told his stepfather that Luna was "on the phone with the other man," and he responded by telling the boy to go take a shower. After the shower, the stepfather told the victim to repeat what he had said.

"While the victim was mid-sentence, the defendant struck the victim on the left side of his face, causing an injury near his eye," the complaint read. "The defendant then slammed the victim against the wall. The victim began to run away from the defendant, but then [his mother] grabbed the victims towel, holding him back."

The stepfather held Luna back temporarily so that the child could escape and hide in his room, but Luna followed him and began to threaten him from outside of his door, authorities said.

"The defendant was outside of his door yelling to the victim I want to kill you," the complaint claimed. "You're not my son. Come out the door, and I'll kill you with anything I have. The victim then called his aunt."

The child called his aunt and showed her his injuries, allegedly asking that she send his grandparents to pick him up. The aunt would later corroborate the child's story.

When Luna was confronted by police, she told them that she did hit the victim "several times on the back" but said she did not remember any strikes after that. She denied hitting her on the face or on the back of the head, authorities said.

Lol, this has been floating around since at least 2016

If you're just referring to me cross-posting it and not linking back, check the crosspost menu of your respective client

Why am I cross-posting .ml content?

I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to help vitilize non-.ml comms and make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don't want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some active niche comms.

Megathread on the issue

Some highlights from the link:

.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558 The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068

General negative sentiment to other instances who haven't "seen the way" yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can't even put them all here because this comment would be really long.

I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda

On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like "Lemmy? Isn't that the place with a bunch of tankies?" Or "Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left". The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

So I'd like to ask if you'd consider switching to this comm instead for your 2 comms?

I mean tbf, they just mean they're making the smartphone more computer like in that you can install whatever OS you want lol

Another big reason, a lot of the earlier PS2 models had a poor quality laser that would go bad really quick

I don't think the Threadiverse is big enough for it to matter in most cases, this comm is huge, but yet there were 3 posts all day yesterday to it

Plus, memes are perfectly capable of sparking serious discussions and questions to lol

Also, I can't imagine anyone who was actually close to someone being willing to actually use something this ghoulish.

Grief is a hell of a drug, someone who's just lost someone close to them might be willing to do a lot of things for just one more day, hour, minute with them
