Thankfully they're not doing well. I haven't watched any of their matches but I hope there's at least a few people in the crowd who are booing them and waving Palestinian flags, although I wouldn't be surprised if such actions are penalised.

I'm not criticising Palestinians for their religiosity. I'm criticising Hakim for his idealist assertions in the community post.

Sorry, I don't use Hexbear. Could you please give me a link to the post?

But isn't religion a source of false consolation? The real consolation would of course be the improvement of material conditions.

It certainly helps people cope with day to day life under capitalism, but eventually it needs to go.

The idea that the Palestinian people have only been able to persist because of their religion is ridiculous to me. They are resisting because colonialism, apartheid and genocide are very bad things to which nobody would want to be subjected, not because of Islam. If Palestinians were atheists, is he suggesting that they wouldn't have the strength or the will to resist? Would their lack of a belief in the supernatural turn them into doormats for Isn'treal?

I like Hakim's content, but his position on religion is quite frustrating. He is a Muslim first and a Marxist second. Also, Joram van Klaveren is still a right-winger.

Joram van Klaveren is still a right-winger, by the way.

If necessity is not a concern then you should only learn a language if you want to, not because you feel like you have to. Learning a language is an incredibly long and arduous process so the will and the desire to learn it has to be there.

I agree with the death penalty in principle. In practice, I would only agree with it under the dictatorship of the proletariat because a bourgeois state should not have that amount of power.

I'm all for rehabilitative justice, but if it can be proven beyond any reasonable doubt that you:

  1. intentionally murdered an innocent person
  2. raped someone
  3. molested a child
  4. are a nazi
  5. committed war crimes

then you have forfeited your right to be a part of society and should be removed from it. Imo there is no amount of re-education or rehabilitation that can fix a person who has done any of the aforementioned things.

Thoughts?

I recently stopped watching porn after doing some reading on proletarian/marxist feminism. This article in particular was really good imo: https://proletarianfeminist.medium.com/a-socialist-feminist-and-transgender-analysis-of-sex-work-b08aaf1ee4ab

I was wondering if anyone else is in a similar boat? Porn is a powerful drug and it can be really difficult to give it up if you're addicted (which I am unfortunately). Is anyone willing to share their porn-free journey and give some advice and tips?

When I learned about the atrocities that were committed by the British Empire, especially in India (I'm of Indian descent so that was of particular interest to me). I needed an outlet for my hatred of Anglos and I somehow discovered Genzedong. The memes were hilarious and simultaneously enlightening. One thing lead to another and I found myself supporting AES and eventually reading theory.

I was previously on the path to anarchism so I'm really glad I found GZD before I became a baby-brained idealist.

The rest is history.

I'm currently stuck in intermediate purgatory in Spanish (I can understand a lot but I struggle to construct my own sentences). I love the language, as well as Latin America, and I really want to become fluent.

After Spanish, there's maybe 2 more languages in which I would like to be fluent (Russian and Mandarin) and a few more in which I would like to be more or less conversational (Romanian, Hungarian, Korean, Persian, Cantonese, Serbian)
