The domain name made me join :)
I thought it was quite a cool URL! I got lots of people telling me off for using .zip though
Why did they tell you off for using it?
Edit: I think its pretty awesome honestly
I think some people are worried that it could be used to scam people, i.e. please download this invoice.zip file, but it actually leads to a website etc. There are extra securities with .zip domains so google is trying to block that from happening.
Oh right, that actually makes sense. Will this be an issue for the instance going forward do you think?
I dont think so - i took a gamble picking the name but i found it the most "fun". Definitely helps us to stand out a bit!
I dig it.
I heard about what happened to lemm.ee but I had a very good time with the guys who I call friends. But I hope that you guys can fill the void.
Lemm.ee refuge. God bless Lemm.ee lol
Hello everyone :)
I'm coming from lemm.ee.
Same. Sad to see it go, it's now my third instance move. Happy to be here though!
Coming here after lemm.ee announced its shutting down. I went to lemm.ee after getting caught up in the post election reddit purges that included people who talked about luigi or spoke ill of elon. I've had nothing but good experiences here in the fediverse so I assume this place will be no different.
Hello, yet another lemm.ee refuge. Looking forward to polluting comments with misinformation about IT/dev things and such.

Thanks for having me (and the informative post/welcome PM). 🙂
Welcome along!
Thanks for this system, already like the looks a little better than I expected. Also thank you for this post for us newbies to the fediverse.
decided i'd emigrate from lemmee
sad to see it go but glad there's someplace welcoming us.
Hey there, found your instance in a comment on /r/lemmy. Thanks for doing this!
Is there an FAQ or something similar posted here somewhere? Or do you have any other resources you could recommend for a long-time reddit user?
I wasn't sure where to post this, but why am I not seeing replies to my post over on a community in lemmy.world? There are a ton of replies there, but I see zero on lemmy.zip.

Hey! Have you subscribed to the community? When i look, it appears there are no lemmy.zip subscribers there, and Lemmy won't share any updates in communities with no subscribers, so I'd say make sure you hit the subscribe button and then check again a little while later.
I didn't realize this was so important! I did not subscribe yet, but I just clicked that button now. Thank you so much for explaining this to me, I had no idea.
This post is a godsend, thanks
Hello, I just joined this instance. I'm not the type that can do the moderation but I hope someone will make a dnd community on Lemmy. There is one on Kbin but there isn't a good mobile app for that.
There is a DND community [email protected] that might be of interest :)
(Still quite new though)
Hi from Singapore
I am reading about some of the federation issues, relating to comments not synchronizing between instances (https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3101) and I don't know if this is fixed yet or not, but I'm seeing this first hand on the following community: [email protected] I joined from lemmy.zip and that worked immediately, but absolutely zero comments have loaded, except for my own which I made. I have now joined since 12h and the comments have still not loaded. Though it seems posts are visible.
It is however even worse with [email protected] where not even the posts are loading. This is very unfortunate.
Note: for yuzuemulator, the posts might not have loaded from not being subscribed. It's unclear to me if posts and comments start to load when the communities are federated or whole instances (in which latter case all communities of the instance are synced?)
Edit: yuzuemulator posts have started appearing after a short moment, so that seems to be fixed, but posts are not visible yet.
