But is Blue Iris really worth dealing with Windows over? I think Frigate has pretty much caught up by now and is developing quickly.

Yeah webrtc is one of the best in this regard. Unfortunately I can't display 4 of them on my kiosk tablet.

I don't think you can do much past just display the live (usually somewhat delayed) camera feeds. If you have some external object detection, you could probably feed the detection events to Frigate. That would make it as efficient as anything you could do natively in HA.

The economy as it is both provides and causes problems, but without the advanced economy we have today the majority of the world's people would starve to death. And yes, technology can be used to bad ends, but I've seen a lot of applications of ours and mostly it's just mundane "getting the job done" stuff that helps everyday people keep functioning.

Yes, there are evil people in my organization, but I feel like I've stood up for my principles where it counted. Yes I've been demoted for that, and I was much happier afterwards. Someday it may cost me my job, but I will keep losing jobs until I find one where I can be myself.

All things in life are a balance of good and bad, you just have to evaluate whether you are more on the good side or bad side. There are a lot of jobs out there that are just helping people do the stuff they need to get done, generally good. Yes some evil capitalist takes most of the profit and hoards it for their evil purposes, but for me it's enough to know that I provided things needed by others and helped them to make it through their lives in some small way.

Hence why I've been at the bottom of the org chart most of my 30 year career. I moved up one rung once, but after I refused to do some shitty things to people, I ended up moving back down ;-). No regrets.

I mean every company probably has some bad effect on the world, but there's also benefit. You have to weight the benefits vs the harm. I don't feel like I have to be personally evil in my job or that it's a net negative on society. I think things are better in the world because of my work. Not all things, but better on balance.

Nothing in here stating that that NATO was involved in a coup installing Yeltzin.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

I hope so. Though I think the only way the threat from Russia goes away is if it's broken up into smaller states which is unlikely.

With or without Trump, I don't think Europe has a choice at this point. Yes, if they US held up their part against Russia, Europe would have to spend less. That's the one area where Trump screwed Europe, but that being the case, Europe needs to spend this much on defense. Trump can just be a convenient excuse.

I would love to hear your take on how NATO "coup'ee"'d Russia and installed Yeltsin. Don't forget to include your sources 🤣

Thanks to @[email protected] for the following summary and turning me on to the linked excellent summary of the book.

Foundations of Geopolitics was published in 1997 by Aleksandr Dugin. It outlines how Russia can become the world's dominant superpower without warfare. It is taught in Russia's military officers school, Putin keeps a copy in his office, and it is Russia's geopolitical playbook. Dugin is still closely involved with Putin and Russian intelligence, and so was his daughter, who was murdered in a car bombing that was likely meant for him.

Under the section for the United States, it says:

Russia should use its special services within the borders of the United States and Canada to fuel instability and separatism against neoliberal globalist Western hegemony, such as, for instance, provoke "Afro-American racists" to create severe backlash against the rotten political state of affairs in the current present-day system of the United States and Canada. Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social, and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics".

I'm wondering if I should go for a replacement or what.

I can't get the Switch 2 to wake even if I hold the controllers 1cm away and hit the home screen. I know it's not supposed to work from the old pro controllers any more, but not even from the included joycons? And since it doesn't recognize my TV's HDMI-CEC either, the only way to wake this damn thing while it's docked is to walk over and turn it on. And to make matters worse, the range of the controllers is a lot worse and they keep disconnecting. I didn't have these problems with the Switch 1.

Is it just me?

If true, this is poetic justice at it's best. The US' sweet polite neighbor to the north putting them into a full nelson until Trump taps out like the little bitch he is.
