Finally finished the middle third. Happy to reach that milestone. Hoping the rest goes a little quicker.

Getting close to finishing the black for this section. You can see the outline of the two characters and some of the bar. (Cloud and Tifa in Seventh Heaven)

Upgraded my frame. Got a Q snap with the 14" extensions. So I can now work in portrait mode which benefits this particular pattern. Also because of the way the pattern printed out I'll be working on this in thirds. This is the middle third. There's a lot of black...

And new project started. That thumbnail has seen some things... First time using yellow Aida. Kinda like it. Much easier to work with than black. And this is another pretty big stitch so I'm glad I won't need the light under the project.

Done! Technically finished before my sister's birthday but needs to be framed and some real life stuff got in the way so will still be belated. But! It's done. And adorable.

Getting close to wrapping this up. Will probably miss my sister's birthday, but Christmas is around the corner. Or it'll just be a belated gift.

I started this just after finishing Totoro so this is a few weeks of work. Will be a present for my sister when finished.

I want to frame that Totoro stitch and my wife would really prefer a round frame. I don't really want to use just a hoop but have had trouble finding round frames in a 12-14" size that seem nice/decent quality. Anybody have any recommendations?

update:

So my wife found a round record album display case that was 12". It had a couple little quirks, but ended up working pretty well. The trouble was nobody really frames round objects. We ended up taking it to a Michaels and they did it, but there were definitely a couple hiccups in the process. (They tossed the back of the frame and just papered over it once they had the stitch in place. Mostly because they didn't pay attention when we said there was a lip in there they needed to take into account because it was meant to display a record... Oh well)

From the front it looks pretty great and we have it up on the wall now and I am pretending the back is fine. Heh.

For grins and chuckles here's the back.

After 10 months. Finished. Biggest project I've tackled to date. I'm super happy right now. Will look for a frame to finish the project for good.

Totoro was too big to bring so I grabbed the little katamari damacy kit my kids got me for Christmas. It was a normal pattern but at the last second I came up with the joke and had to use it. (for those not familiar with the game you play as a prince)

Probably close to half done with this color of rain. It's... something. I definitely have to convince myself a little more to work on it.

Still around and stitching! Behold progress. 🙂

I second this suggestion. They're great. Those other things are an abomination.

I suspect that's the smart way to do it. Would make a pretty cool map.

I was pretty shocked when I saw the pattern online.

Thank you for this.

So much light pollution. I grew up without mountains and now live somewhere with mountains. Miss that wide open sky. Day and night.

Machi Koro is super simple to travel with. Just rubber band the cards and throw the dice and money tokens in a bag and there you go.

Jaipur is similar that way.

Anything by Oink Games.

You're going on a series of four "hikes". You roll to determine how many grid/elevation lines you can cross in a turn. You have to end your turn on a waypoint. If you can't, you can rest and earn a water bottle which will let you add one additional line cross in a later turn. The different spots enable scoring/abilities. So by the end you've wandered over the map and hopefully accrued some points.

Sahara is a truly fun time. Romancing the Stone and The Lost City are also good.
