Wait, how did they delete bad reviews for their app? That doesn't even seem like it should be possible or allowed.

What is your favorite thing about skunks? And did you know it existed? I first found out about the event a few years ago.

I thought stuff like "Explain Like I'm Five" and "AMA" was proprietary to the community, or at least the Reddit community, not Reddit as a company.

I checked and I found at least those subreddit forum names were registered as trademarks.

  • TODAY I LEARNED (TIL)
  • SHOWERTHOUGHTS
  • EXPLAIN LIKE I'M FIVE
  • NOSLEEP
  • AM I THE ASSHOLE?
  • IAMA
  • RPAN (actual subreddit name is R/PAN but they messed up the word mark for the registration I think.)
  • ASK REDDIT (makes sense since this includes Reddit's name.)
  • NATURE IS FUCKING LIT (I thought you couldn't register word marks with swearing but I guess I'm wrong. Must be only for offensive terms then...)
  • ASK ME ANYTHING (yes somehow this "generic term" is a trademark now...")
  • AMA
  • ELI5

Also they have some trademark registration applications for WALLSTREETBETS that have not been finalized yet.

Now we gotta have websites developing for all web browsers instead of Google Chrome like it's Internet Explorer 2.0.

He was an interesting character with antenna back in the first movie and a memorable voice actor.

I just noticed this when I saw a strange "Achievement Unlocked" notification pop up on Reddit. What do you think of this? It seems like a retention tactic to me, like what Amino had with its streak leaderboards, and GameFAQs currently has with streak achievements for logging on ten days in a row and also for all days of a month.

What makes bats like bananas so much? Or is it just the humans' preferred treat for bats?

It used to exist but the website seems to be broken now. Is the newsletter still active or is it dead?

The site "Striped Bandits" died in 2022 or so and was replaced with a raccoon comic. What did you think of the old 2005-2016 era website? Did you use its forum back in the day? I remember reading about it.

I was reminded about Bat Appreciation Day today thanks to this channel on YouTube.

Here's yet another news article about pet skunks. What do you think of them? Do you think they should be pets at all?

Apparently they have come to the conclusion that skunk stripes are different based on the area and how many predators there are. It's nice to know more about my favorite animals.

Why is it called "OpenSubtitles" if you have to pay for it to use it in any capacity?

[-] Tag365@lemmy.world 20 points 2 years ago

There's like an ad every paragraph or two on sites like these. Then apparently that's not enough so they have auto-playing video ads and pop-up ads too. Do they seriously think people will tolerate this and not go off the website?

Why is Cloudflare so bad?

[-] Tag365@lemmy.world 21 points 2 years ago

It's Internet Explorer - Google edition.

[-] Tag365@lemmy.world 28 points 2 years ago

Why did they start calling it "Doom scrolling?"

Those bright LED interfaces are called "Abusive Appliance Interfaces" by Nathan over on the Toasty Tech website. It seems like there's more people that are being annoyed by the bright lights than I thought.

But it seems like DuckDuckGo is blocking them, which implies the system that's tracking that is trying to upload that data onto a server, not just using it for pausing videos and stuff.

Wait, they're trying to check the status of your headphone? That's way too far. Why do they need to know if the headphone's plugged in?

[-] Tag365@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago

That's stupid to have. It was stupid when Twitter and YouTube did it, it was stupid when Roblox did it, it is still stupid here.

I had a strange bug today where I wasn't able to upvote comments. So I cleared out my website data like the website suggested and I started having problems logging in. It would log in but then when I refreshed it wasn't logged in anymore. It stopped after a while but then when I clicked on an old tab when I refreshed I was logged out again. So, the log in issue must be something to do with how iOS Safari handles web cache on tabs.
