Based on the article, the deputy prime minister added that he’s grateful for the reduced tariff in the same statement in which he said they’d nominate the orange buffoon.
They could not be more transparent.
The tariffs on places like Cambodia reveal how little it has to do with domestic industry because Cambodia has basically zero manufacturing. Its exports are almost all raw inputs we'd need to import for manufacturing. Instead, the tariffs are simple imperialistic extortion.
And it is expected for countries like this to even out the trade deficit... anyway i still think it's the right choice on the combodia side. edit: make the reply more relevant to the post

And that's why I am in favour of abolishing the Nobel peace prize. It's a clearly politically charged award that rewards an individual's or group's actions during a particular snapshot in time, which they then get to have as their accolades for the rest of their lives.
And yes, you could make that argument for every Nobel prize, but unlike rewarding peace efforts that the nominee could undermine or even undo the next day after receiving the award, you can't un-invent a scientific breakthrough.
