I tried regular Firefox and nightly both show such usage. I'm mostly reading up on news, Twitter and browsing this site.

Pocket shutting down (support.mozilla.org)
submitted 1 week ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Pocket will be shutting down on July 8, 2025. This is very disappointing as I love the compatibility with my Kobo.

has anyone noticed pages that are just ai slop popping up recently? they have low quality information and serve no purpose but to waste time.

if you haven't experienced these, just search up a common tech problem and click on a generically named site. chances are, it will have a table of context and generally low quality writing. if you get lucky, there might also be some blatant lies in there(for example: this site claims garmin instinct watches have an sd card).

is there a ublock origin blocklist for these? thank you for suggestions.

Looking for a bookmarking app which is not self hosted, online, community focused, etc, just a simple program.

Which is able to import/export bookmarks and move them around if needed. Anyone uses something like this? Preferably on windows. (Something like the old linkman, which is really dated.)

ff 138 added 'profiles'. What is the difference between the new profiles system and the old profile manager ones? It looks like the new profiles live inside a traditional profile.

What's the point of two separate profile systems anyway?

I need fine grained, automated cookie controls I have tried these addons

Cookie Manager Cookie Quick Manager Cookie AutoDelete

And the problem is always the same.

It is TOO DIFFICULT to only have one exception for one cookie in one account container

Creating containers for every single website is also extremely tedious and buggy.

And deleting all cookies all the time, means I am re-logging in into everything all the time, often a 5 to 10 step process not counting 2 factor and it is VERY annoying

Woke up this morning to find that Firefox Nightly has finally removed the separate navigation bar on mobile, apparently due to an overwhelmingly negative user response. But it was a feature I really enjoyed using, being the closest non-Chromium setup I could find similar to Samsung Internet, and would like to re-enable if possible.

Does anyone know if there are any extensions or other add-ons for FF mobile which enable any sort of nav bar layout or similar? Or is my only recourse to grab the previous version of the APK and stay on that until I can find a better alternative?

Example screenshots included if anyone is not sure what I am describing.

I'm sorry to those that seen this from asklemmy comm. Didn't read the rules. Reposting here.

Both are Windows machines. I know, don't need to preach about it.

I like how I set up the Firefox install on my PC and getting around to using it again for work because of multi account containers. Did the testing on my personal PC in case some things break with the hardening I chose for my threat model.

I just don't want to repeat the steps again, even if I already know what worked for me.

I found online that I could just copy the Firefox profile folder. Is that just it?

If it's the copy profile way, is the profile from a base Firefox compatible for other forks? If it's not the profile copying way, is the other ways compatible moving from base firefox to its forks?

TIA

Latest update to LibreWolf changed it's user agent string and it's causing websites to freak out. For example amazon will default you to a mobile website and Youtube music is having issues. To make matters worse if you try to download an extension to change the user agent string, it won't let you and tell you to download Firefox. You'll need to manually override the user agent string by going into about:config. You'll need to add general.useragent.override string into config.

Here is how you can do that: https://www.whatismybrowser.com/guides/how-to-change-your-user-agent/firefox

I changed my user agent string to following and problem went away.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:138.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/138.0

EDIT: Looks like 138.0.1-2 has been released. User agent string has been changed back and all is well. You should now delete the general.useragent.override

I know they've been getting more controlling over time, but blocking an entire browser, really? I've been watching YouTube over Firefox for 5+ years now just fine, and now they shut me out arbitrarily? Nah, fuck that.

Edit: It's something wrong with the new LibreWolf update and my profile. Causes issues in both normal and private browsing, but not a different profile and is solved by switching user agent.

It would be cool if they added an option to search and select multiple bookmarks and move them to a folder.
Currently they allow selecting bookmarks and moving them, but not inside search.

Having that would make bookmark management very easy.

https://browseraudit.com/

I just downloaded Tor browser (which is a configured Firefox browser BTW) using the torbrowser-launcher that automatically downloads and manages the browser. And I thought for funs sake, checking and comparing some tests from browseraudit against my current personal Firefox setup. And to my surprise I got more warnings with Tor Browser v14.5 (based on Mozilla Firefox 128.9.0esr) vs My personal setup of Firefox Browser v137.0.2 (custom configurations and plugins installed). Both at the most up to date version in their official version.

I just found this interesting and wanted to share with you.

The 12 step 2 factor login process 4 times a day really pisses me off. ESPECIALLY that last screen where you are logged in but it makes you press another NEXT as punishment for not staying logged in all the time.

Really super annoying how they are using such manipulative behaviour to punish those who protect their privacy

I find Firefox Translator doesn't pick up a lot of pages. The location bar button doesn't appear.

It works if I access via the hamburger menu. It is very slow to have to go via the menu for each individual page. I find no shortcut key or anything.

Sometimes this will correctly guess the original language but often not. It is saying pages are English even when they have little to no english, even using different alphabets.

Is there something the website admins can do to tell firefox what language it is? Encoding? Meta tag?

Can I force the location-bar translate button to persist on all pages regardless of what language it thinks the page is in? Then I could save going through the menu.

Here is an example: https://cn.chinadaily.com.cn/
