On 14 October, #Microsoft will end support for #Win10.

This will turn hundreds of millions of computers that cannot upgrade to #Win11 into security risks and #eWaste.

Yours may be one of them!

But what if you could make your current one fast and secure again?

Hey guys! I want to create a custom KDE (or is it sddm?) splash screen. I've found a couple guides that are outdated. Is there any documentation as to what goes where?

Recently dipped into the configuration of KDE Plasma and I found something really annoying. These toolbars at the top and bottom dont disappear, when I want to play a game, even tho the game starts and is set to fullscreen mode. Additionally, this also really fucks with my mouse in a way, that I cant use the upper part of menus, because then my mouse snaps out of the window and reappears in the upper toolbar. How do I change this?

I'm on Solus Plasma. It's worth noting that this never happened on Solus GNOME which I was driving for a few months before switching to KDE.

So this doesn't happen every time I shut down, but it's pretty frequent. What usually happens is I initiate shutdown (using either KRunner or from Application menu clicking shutdown). The monitor and keyboard and mouse switch off, but the CPU does not. Fans are running, RGB is on. I can't wake it up with any keys. I can only long press power button on the cabinet to force shutdown.

Couple of things I observed:

  1. I noticed sometimes my external HDD was not auto mounting when I started the PC, so I thought maybe it was automount that was preventing shut down also. So I tried to see if the times automount didn't work, coincided with the times I had to force shutdown - they don't. Even if it shuts down without issues I sometimes notice automount not working. And not every time I force shutdown I have automount issues.

  2. I thought maybe clicking the shut down immediately button on the confirmation screen is what is causing the issue. I tried letting it shutdown on its own after the 10s countdown, but that also yielded inconsistent results.

I'm at a loss for what to do now.

Why doesn't plasma have this feature? I'm pretty sure there is a technical reason. This is pretty much the most customizable DE in existence, and missing a small feature like this seems odd to me.

Hello,

I have a fresh install of OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with KDE Plasma 6.3.5.

Every time I open an app which needs root privileges (such as myrlyn) I’m greeted by the KDE su window to enter my password. Even if I tick “Remember my password”, this does not have any effects, and the next time I’m asked for my password again.

Any idea on how to ensure the “Remember my password” setting in KDE su is honoured?

Thanks!

I noticed this recently, and now if I hover or click the network icon on Plasma, I see all my docker bridge networks, not just the normal Wifi and wired networks available.

Why did those start to show up, and how do I get rid of them?
