not sure when the Affirm APR would kick in after purchase date but just for comparison's sake, credit cards have been around 20% in my experience. 36% is fucking highway robbery.

I've seen & heard this a few times, that Zionists will justify their claim of ownership to Palestinian lands by pointing at the Bible for evidence that they were the original inhabitants of that land. They don't consider it the West Bank, they call it Judea and Samaria (as seen on The Setters documentary). I haven't read the bible and tbh don't know that history very well of which people lived where but I'm sure the history is not as simple as this. Anyone have any good reads or insights into this history?

Just watched The Settlers documentary and hearing those ppl's ideology peppered with biblical prophecy was disturbing. A truly disgusting movement that needs to be stopped.

Not necessarily news but relevant given the LA fires and other recent natural disasters in the USA alone. There is some kind of poetic justice here that the empire that threatens the environment of the only home that humans have, should receive the worst of its wrath when it isn't respected (of course most of the people don't deserve this). Also curious that what gives the USA a geopolitical advantage (being between two very large oceans etc) also creates for more varied and possibly violent climate.

Blame geography for the U.S. getting hit by stronger, costlier, more varied and frequent extreme weather than anywhere on the planet, several experts said. Two oceans, the Gulf of Mexico, the Rocky Mountains, jutting peninsulas like Florida, clashing storm fronts and the jet stream combine to naturally brew the nastiest of weather.

Tornadoes. Hurricanes. Flash floods. Droughts. Wildfires. Blizzards. Ice storms. Nor’easters. Lake-effect snow. Heat waves. Severe thunderstorms. Hail. Lightning. Atmospheric rivers. Derechos. Dust storms. Monsoons. Bomb cyclones. And the dreaded polar vortex.

I think he's talking about a senate race in PA where it looks like, mathematically anyway, those Green votes would put the Dem ahead of Republican but he can still fuck off. Their level of smugness is unbearable.

Also why doesn't CNN's results ticker show the other participants in that senate race? Nvm I know the answer

So MAGA movement has infiltrated local election boards? Why that's even a possible strategy is wild!

Ok functionality question about the news thread. I'm trying to figure out what the sorting options do, in particular 'Hot' and 'New/Chat'. I get that the latter sorts by newest comments but the chat function doesn't seem to make a difference? Also does 'Hot' sort by comments with most active engagement?

I've looked if there's a FAQ type of page that explains these functions (and for others like how to embed those little emojis etc etc) so if there is a link, please point me in the right direction!
