The avalanche has started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

It's an odd issue for me. I'm not against it, but the number of politically aware 16yos I've met would be close to zero. That said, I don't think it really gets better by 18, so I have no good argument either way.

It just doesn't strike me as anything but an attempt to gerrymander along demographic lines and so I view it with cynicism.

We already jail more than France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. We're about 40% more than the nearest one of those which is France. Several of them we're 2-3x more per capita.

We put too many people in prison. We're not on American levels, but it's still too many.

To me this is tinkering with the edges of a broken system. How about some proper voting reform?

Weirdly, you can only die for your country with parental consent if you're under 18.

Do people actually see this as a good thing?

For me it's just messing with the edges of a broken system.

What I meant was I thought I'd read that because the design originally had those elements in place, the QE class carriers had left the design characteristics in place to support the launch systems, in particular the structural load bearing aspects.

Not that they'd need a ground up refit.

Certainly the navy is looking a the possibility of doing this.

Golgafrinchian Ark style.

It's almost as if a big part of the current hype is just sociopath CEOs being sociopaths, but not being self aware about it.

NATO is a military organisation. Trade is civilian.

You don't see the US joint chiefs weighing in on the tariff discussion, nor the head of the UK armed forces weighing in on Brexit.

Why does the NATO chief feel he's free to talk about trade relations?
