The community is set to only allow mod posts.

And I am here, if needs be. Although the community is not being actively used, it's not abandoned.

Do you rent a flat or a house and, if so, where?

Do you live with family or flatmates?

Are you trying to buy a home? How's that going?

I replied to your post about this.

I remember ten years ago sharing beers with admins who visited London. Back when there was a push for developing local communities and Global Reddit Meetup Day. There was good vibes and a feeling of mutual respect.

I met my wife through Reddit.

I still have so much affection for the site in my heart.

It's just wild to me how much has changed.

Really glad I never got that Snoo tattoo now.

r/TIHI is also unmoderated along with r/mildlyinteresting and r/interestingasfuck. Is that new?

Jesus, this is escalating fast. I never actually thought admins would go to such crazy lengths. Such pathetic desperation!

Some are doing just this. But most mods, like most users, don't know much about the fediverse, other than that it exists.

I loved Reddit, and I still love Reddit. I love so many little communities. And although I am persuaded that the fediverse is the future, I would go back in a heartbeat if it managed to regrow a soul. I happily paid for premium back in the day.

Hi all, as someone who founded r/LondonSocialClub (a place for IRL meet-ups in London) along with a few friends many moons ago, the current clusterfuck at Reddit threatens the community where I met my wife and loads of my closest friends.

There is no appetite at the moment for our inclusive subreddit to move off the grid to the fediverse, but I wanted to put a stake in the ground, just in case.

Edit:

I understand why this is bothersome for some people, but I think this is a reasonable action to take:

  • The community name is unique. I don't think it's plausible that another user would want to use this name except to associate themselves with our pre-existing community.

  • This isn't intended to prevent people from starting another community with the same or similar aim. I'd be delighted to see c/LondonMeetups or anything else pop up. I just don't want them to use our name. More people hanging with people is always good.

Otherwise, I plan to stick around this instance. I'm pretty done with Reddit now, and I hope in the future many other people feel the same way.
