I have been using new pipe ever since vanced died and I love the privacy and the simple interface but I really miss one feature. I alredy use the fork of new pipe with sponsor block and to be perfect it would really need a recommended page, it's the main way I discovered new channels and interesting stuff of of youtube. I just can't see my self discovering new stuff without the recommendations page, is there any good fork or alternative for this problem?

I don't get why big companys are afraid of open source software.

I know that monetizing open source is hard but in exchange they would have 8 billion programmers ready, for free!

Even if they do like redhat , as controversial as it is right now, they would be better off than just closing the source.

I would be willing to pay to have the license to modify my own software even if I couldn't redistribute it afterwards.

I red tha article and I think there is a problem in who it was managed at the time, if Google or Meta wants to join they should to us not us to them so if they break federation we should not care and continue implement our stuff, if something usable comes out of them joining we could use that but we are not their slaves, they are going to play in our home so we establish the rules.

Plus I think that if we don't become meta's costumer support and I don't think we will, we are not that dumb, meta joining the fediverse would only benefit us because we could see all the posts from Meta while being on a private add free server, people wouldn't have to choose between Instagram where all their friends are mad pixelfed ecc.

What do you guys think? Open to talk.

I used to use both obsidian and logseq the rich text of trilium isn't that rich it is practically markdown but made simpler with a menu, more like the obsidian mobile app. Practically trilium isn't strictly hierarchy based, if you wanted you could just slap everything in one folder and link what you want. The clone feature comes handy form people like me that have to have everything neatly organized so if I want a note in 2 folders at the same time I can do that. Sadly the [[link]] format isn't supported as of now but it has its own internal linking, just press ctrl+L and link away. I hope this helps, maybe it's not the perfect option for you but I would love if you could spread the word, Thank you very much

No problem at all. I actually use logseq on my phone just because it's FOSS.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Yes it has the web app but a regular app would be nice

That's the problem, an unknown open source software can't grow as fast as it should. Thanks for checking it out.

Bro I get it, I actually need an android app but he's a single developer and h can't do all of that on his own. For now I write markdown files on my phone and import them when I can.

Thanks man, I really got invested in this project, I personally use it but I don't have the skills to help directly.

I mean Trilium is fantastic app, lots of potential but the developer is struggling on his own, maybe it's because it's younger than logseq or maybe because is open source compared to obsidian. I think it's the best note-taking/knowledge-base/second-brain i know it virtually could link everything you posses toghter to create a gigantic wiki, so much potential. Plus it has its own self hostable syncing server and web app. Guys give it a look and tell me what you think

Very easy actually, because they do not live the struggle they can easily say do this or do that but they don't really know what it's happening, just today a young girl, 12 yo, was raped by one of this immigrants, the crime rate went up a lot

The sistem is run by a miriad of different servers that are own each by its community, you would have to research more deeply the specific server you want to know the owner of

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

You don't have to think of the servers as different entities, all servers are Lemmy, each one slightly different sure but you can participate in every server equally so nothing changes to you

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

I would prefer lemmy, you are free from all the reddit shenanigans, plus if there's any problems we could make our own server and still stay here, much more reasonable
