I'm seeing a bunch of controversy surrounding which socialist organizations to join and I've heard the best things/least bad things about the PSL. Is this true?

If you're going to hear something bad about PSL, it's likely going to be the Philly branch sexual misconduct allegations. I'll paste the links I made in a comment on another thread here.

This is the account of the accuser of the misconduct.

Here is a (originally internal) document of some members's criticisms of how the org handled the Philly situation.

Here is an addendum to the previous document, which includes the PSL's official response to the previous document as well.

While I can't speak to the veracity of the sexual misconduct claim, the way the party's leadership handled the situation was pretty bad.

This is sort of a "work out your frustrations by letting it all out" community where different leftist tendencies can vent their frustrations with one another and more assertively and directly challenge one another. Heated arguments are OK but pointless hostility is not (see instance rule 3).
