I wrote a (very long) blog post about those viral math problems and am looking for feedback, especially from people who are not convinced that the problem is ambiguous.

No, it doesn't. It never talks about Terms, nor The Distributive Law (which isn't the same thing as the Distributive Property). These are the 2 rules of Maths which make this 100% not ambiguous.
