Marxism is a social, political, and economic philosophy named after Karl Marx. It examines the effect of capitalism on labor, productivity, and economic development and argues for a worker revolution to overturn capitalism in favor of communism. Marxism and Karl Marx made leftist ideologies what they are today.

While it's a great article, it does make one key error. It greatly minimises the role of principle or subjective desire in understanding the aims of the communists. It is not the case that we simply want to accelerate pre-existing trends in capitalism.

We should also mot confuse marx speaking in the third person with marx being a neutral observer. When marx speaks of the aims and desires of the proletariat, or the aims of "the new social order" he also talking about his own political aims and desires. There is no distinction.
