The temporary embarrassment was inconsequential, as the nomenclature does get extraordinarily obtuse.
You are aware that some people don't strive to be revolutionaries (or martyrs). I would try to work for the cause. Mind you, I can't honestly tell you what I would do until it happens. If there were a theoretical Anarchist Commune of California, I would support it for sure, whether through labor, resources, etc. I'm not sure I would bleed or die for it, though.

I doubt any anarchist project would have the option of purity testing while trying to stay alive. I assume (just a layman) they would take basically anyone who is in opposition to the state or in support of the commune.
