I remember the congressional hearings on this and they asked the big pharma executives "well, why don't we just import your same drugs from Canada at a fraction of the cost?"

And they straight faced replied "Well, we can't guarantee the safety and effectiveness of those drugs."

And nobody asked the obvious follow up question: "Are you selling less safe and effective drugs to overseas markets?"

The Biden administration has started authorizing some importation from Canada
