I'm skeptical that it can increase since it was basically at almost 100% pressure back when I was in high school in the early aughts.
It makes less sense now, though. I was among the first demographic for which the return on a college degree did not match its price. Now, a degree is just baggage unless there is something you specifically want to study. It's amazing how something like $30,000 of debt can last a lifetime once interest is factored in.
Edit: Now that I've read the article, I see this is about the UK specifically. My experience is with the US and its endless pressure for individuals to take on debt.
What
Where did you get the UK from?
Alcohol.

Still alcohol.
Sounds like you need to lay off the piss my guy (or at least lay off the Lemmy while pissed)
It's so entertaining, though.
I can't fucking stand how usaians barrel into every conversation blithely assuming it's about them. Then if called out never apologise and say some bullshit about being the majority English speakers on the internet so being inconsiderate is fine.
note you never see Indian's doing it despite also having a massive English speaking population 🤔
Yeah I must admit it's one of my pet peeves, which is why I always call it out even if I'm doomed to downvote hell afterwards.
I thought things would be better here, since there's the whole instance thing and this instance is literally called aussie.zone with all the communities named something Australian (which was done so Americans wouldn't try to take it over), but somehow it seems to be worse here than it was on Reddit
