This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

complicated question.
could a local new station be motivated to cover it ? yes. maybe, depending what "local" is and what the competing stories are.
as to the "we" in the idea.. personally I would not want anything to do with it and would tend to oppose it. any "local news" type coverage would only be scare mongering
