I'ma just say some shit. Argue with me, agree.. idgaf. Let's get some action in this sub besides 3-5 of us posting random songs. Just do something interesting.

Ace Hood should get more respect.

Roots should get brought up more in GOAT discussions. So should Andre Nickatina.

Keef vs Kanye in influence might be close tbh. Kanye might win by a tiny bit.

Speaking of Kanye, he gets credited for a lot of shit he didn't come up with. He did perfect a lot of it though.

Bone > Three6 but not by a lot

Twistas slick as fuck, and still TO THIS DAY

00s South might be the GOAT era

Cole Fucking World. Before he was popular, my dude puked on his bouncer/manager or some shit. Only like 50 people at Coles show and we got hammered with the dude. My man hit the blunt and that was it

I know mfers are likely internet nerds when they bring up Griselda in real life.

I know because of KRS-one. Kriss Kross did make me dance.

If screw ain't make it, it ain't a screw tape.

Nas > Jay

Control wasn't a diss, it was actually more of a compliment to everyone named.

Give me the check, gimme the throne

I don't trust mfers like to say hip hop was created for political reasons. Sure, it was an aspect.. but so was breaking down the boogie to the hippity hop and you don't stop.

Luda was the best out of ATL during the Jeezy/TI/Gucci era.

Jeezy > Gucci > TI

DMX though

In general, hip-hop got stale. I don't blame em but we are in Punks Good Charlotte phase.

Gavlyn though.

Pusha won, but Story of Adidon is over hyped.

Kendricks sound fell off after GKMC. He still has some nice joints, but he's a lot more hit or miss to my ears.

Hip hop peaked in the 90s or 00s, even though the 10s had some nice shit.

Crunk Aint Dead wasn't crunk, shit was just a nostalgia play for money.

I bet that Catch Me Outside girl is more good than most the industry tbh. Idk shit about her though tbh, just know half these mfers are actually nerds.

Lupe is good, but he's not a lyrical god. I think his type of writing is easier than writing catchy shit.

Choppers like tech/twista/AFRO/gift of gab/etc are cool AF. Might not always be the mood but cool AF

99% Wayne did it.. the F is for first.

You can not say Pop and forget the Smoke

Oh it should for sure be part of the conversation. It is the main thing I want to talk about in modern rap usually. I just think that current mainstream rap is in a weird place. What was at one point very counter-culture is has been the best selling music genre in the US and that for sure makes whatever rap is most popular very different from where it was 30 years ago.

Same thing has happened with Rock honestly. What at one point was the cutting edge of music became stale and sort of fell off, which is where we are today. Of course, that doesn't mean that great and genre expanding bands don't exist, but if the most popular portion of the genre is stale, I think it means something for the genre as a whole.
