I'm trying to get familiar with rss and the sort. I am just a bit scared of the rabbit hole where I'll end up dedicating a whole room of the house to selfhosting lol permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 8 child comments replies: [–] jws_shadotak@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 years ago (2 children) I've dedicated one single machine to self hosting and I never plan on increasing that. It's just one big beefy hunk that has a shitty CPU and lots of RAM and HDD space. Sonarr/Radarr/qBit/Plex is all that's needed. I pay $5/mo ($15/3mo) for AirVPN and that's all. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] 7u5k3n@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago Im doing similar with Usenet and indexers. Automating downloading of new stuff is so much easier. Toss in overseerr with Plex authenticated requesting... You never have to touch it. Tis amazing permalink fedilink source parent [–] ndguardian@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (2 children) You got any tutorials for that? I've been interested in setting something like that up for my own media library but just haven't gotten around to it. Might make for a fun weekend project. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] jws_shadotak@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 years ago https://trash-guides.info/ permalink fedilink source parent [–] Ringmasterincestuous@aussie.zone 2 points 2 years ago https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/5911320 might be useful as well depending on your starting point permalink fedilink source parent [–] twei@feddit.de 3 points 2 years ago Only one room? permalink fedilink source parent [–] 7u5k3n@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 child) Snag you a micropc from Amazon for like $150 and an external HDD and you'll be golden. Selfhosting can be as small as you want. Hell sometimes I wish I had a tiny PC and a couple of 18tb externals. Good luck op permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] BugFinder@lemmy.world 1 point 2 years ago* I use a old laptop with a 3rd gen Intel processor, probably worth less than $30 right now, with straight debian headless and it works like a charm organizing and streaming. I just avoid transcoding wherever possible. permalink fedilink source parent [–] CmdrShepard@lemmy.one 1 point 2 years ago Look into radarr and sonarr to handle all the media acquisition. permalink fedilink source parent
