We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

I bought 2 of the same expansion drives from Costco online and it also came with Exos 2x14 Mach 2 drive! DOM is Aug 2023. I haven't shucked the other one yet because I read somewhere that a preclear test should be run before shucking. Anyone know how to do that or similar test without unraid? Wish I would have thought of that before shucking this one.
I just saw these in Costco, what's the shucking process like?
The shucking process is pretty straightforward. I opened mine up from the side where the seagate logo is located, the only thing is you might want to take your time if you want to avoid breaking the clips. I have broken some on three out of the four sides of the plate.
I believe we might’ve looked at the same post where they mentioned running pre clear before shucking. Any luck figuring this out?
