I live in a 120sqm apartment that has a rather 'elongated' layout, and unfortunately, the internet access point is located at the southern end. Currently, I use a halfway extender, but the performance is embarrassing, and the internet often works very poorly in the northern area. Therefore, I would like to switch to a Wi-Fi mesh.

I've been out of the Wi-Fi topic for a while, and I see that we are now at the 6E standard, with the 7 coming out in 2024. Given the prices, however, maybe it's better to stick with Wi-Fi 6 for now.

What brand/model should I consider?

I see 2-3 options:

  • Tp-Link X50 or even X60, although the latter costs a lot and may not be worth it.
  • Google Wifi
  • Amazon Eero

Any advice? Experiences? Other brands? Tp-Link has a bunch of models, and it's not clear what the differences are.

And how do I know if I need 2 or 3? Moreover, in my case, I cannot replace the provider's router, so I have to use mesh devices only for the Wi-Fi part

No, I only have access on the southern end.
