Have a small room in our office that there's now multiple video editing stations in.

I'd like to stick a 10GB switch in there. Attach one gigabit line to the network (router etc) and then the NAS to a 10gbe line. and run Cat 6 to the 3 editing stations all which have either 2.5 or 10gbe Nics in them already.

So if the IP's would all be part of the network via the gigabit line, but if the 10gbe switch is in there, will they negotiate and run at 10gbe where possible. LIke being able to talk to the nas from the editing stations at proper 10Gbe?

Or will I need to create a whole new network with it's own router?

I hope I'm making sense, in the very early stages of planning.... apologies for the potentially dumb question :)
