I have recently been attempting to get wifi in our detached garage. It is all metal which is why I cannot get service in there. I had to run about 200 foot of ethernet cable and bought a new router for the garage, I connected the ethernet cable to the router in the house, trenched the cable and ran it into the barn. If i just connect my computer to the ethernet cable i get around 300mbps (same speed as house). When I plugged the new router in all green lights came on and I thought I was good to go but when I connect to the network no internet is available. I know it is getting internet because i connected to one of the five ports on the router and It was working. Both routers are TP-link and our internet is spectrum. Any ideas?

The second router is plugged in to the WAN port. If I set it up as access mode that will prevent the initial router from being online correct?

No, Access Point would extend the connection from initial router.
