Data Hoarder

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

I have used the scanner for a lot. I scanned my wife's family photos (Thousands) and my grandfathers (again thousands) I am now completing my parents and all the photos are far worse in quality. The scraping lines are noticeable and horrible. I have cleaned the glass and done what I can think of. Tried different DPI setting etc. No change. The other photos I scanned prior do not have this bad marking at all.

Yes, I even pulled it completely apart and reassembled. I also use alcohol.

I would be curious to see scanned photo of this issue.

I know there are kits available that contain new rollers.

What about scanning a picture that you have allready successfully scanned and making the two available for comparisons.
