I am looking to create a home storage network using a 1 or 2 TB SSD but don't want to drop too much money into a dedicated NAS server.

I have the Google mesh wifi system which unfortunately does not come with a USB port.

So I was thinking of getting a cheap router with a USB 3.0 port from Amazon that is currently going for $30 ( WAVLINK AC1200)

My question is for a setup like this do I really need to worry about the router specs outside of the fact that I need the USB 3.0? Does it really matter ? I don't need the system to be super fast etc since I mostly need to be able to save pictures and images from my phone and serve as a general backup for my personal stuff.

Thanks!

Avi

I think you would have been best of with a Wi-Fi enabled external hard disk. Other than that, you could have gotten an old Synology 2 bay NAS for like 50$, problem solved.
