"Old" guy here who used to be a lot more involved/informed about technology years ago, but now well, not so much (First computer had an 8088 processor πŸ˜‚). Read a few older posts online about this and a few articles on "best Wi-Fi 6 routers". However, I'm looking for the guidance of those here if it's worth it for me to upgrade right now. I have an Asus RT-AC88U with around 27 devices connected (the usual suspects: cell phones, security cameras, desktop, streaming devices, smart tv/xbox (hard wired), etc.). I'm pretty sure just a few phones are wifi 6 compatible. Since I'm guessing the biggest advantage comes from "6" compatible devices, is it worth it for me to upgrade? I have a Gigabit Internet plan. If there are security advantages that would be improved I'd be happy to upgrade. Otherwise, I'm fine waiting a bit longer.

Thank you to all for your advice.

If your WiFi is performing well, it’s not worth it.

If you want more out of your WiFi, upgrade and treat yourself.

Other thing to note is how your WiFi performs relative to your gigabit bandwidth.
