Double Tap not working when trying to dismiss Alarm (alien.top)

Apple Watch Ultra 2 owner here. One reason I upgraded from the original Ultra to Ultra 2 was the ability to use the double tap feature. Let's just say the experience has been very disappointing so far. My biggest gripe is that double tap to dismiss an alarm when sleeping seems to NEVER work. I think I managed to do it once since I've had the most latest update that enabled this double tap feature. Is there something I need to change in the settings to enable this? Very frustrating.

You need to move the wrist enough for the screen to light up. The lady in the original ad does the full motion as well.

Double tap does not work if you don't "activate" the screen.
