I live with my three younger sisters, S is 20 and R is 14 and my mom and dad. My dad was raised with four sisters so living with women isn’t a problem for him.

When I’m at home, I’ll usually wear sweats and a big tshirt with no bra or if it’s really hot sometimes I wear a big tshirt with bikini underwear or boy shorts. My dad owns a buisness so he comes home at weird hours. When he’s home, I’ll put on a hoodie or sweats/ lose shorts so my boobs aren’t flopping and my cheeks are covered around him. If I have to leave my room and I don’t cover up (IE big shirt and panties) and he’s there he’ll avoid looking at me or just make brief eye contact. He’s never directly said anything to me about it but I can tell he’s uncomfortable.

S is still insecure about her appearance so she’s covered up most of the time, even when my dad isn’t home so I don’t really care. Every once in a while she’ll walk around wearing boy shorts and a big top but that’s usually on her way to the shower.

However, R has no care in the world when it comes to what she wears around the house. She’ll be sitting in the living room watching tv wearing a bra and underwear like it’s no big deal. When my dad comes home she’ll put on shorts but still has her chest exposed. When I’m doing things around the house and see her half naked I ask her to wear something a little bit more modest but she’s pretty rude about it and tells me that she doesn’t care and she deserves to be comfortable at home. Whatever, ok I guess. When my dad comes home he avoids her but she goes up to him and engages in conversation with him. My dad is respectful about it and cuts it short and goes into his room. He never explicitly says anything, but again you can see he is uncomfortable.

Even when she knows we are expecting to have male guests (cousins, uncles) coming into the house she delays getting dressed and will come out to greet them in a bra and shorts. My mom, S and I are always on her to cover up but she doesn’t get dressed until she causes a scene then she goes into her room to change.

I reached my limit when I got home late last night to find her sleeping on the couch in her bra and underwear with everything on full display. I didn’t say anything because everyone was in their rooms asleep but who knows how long she’d been out there like that

AITA for wanting my sister to cover up because of how uncomfortable she makes my family? Or does she deserve to be comfortable as she is in the house.

Honestly I’ll never understand the need for women to walk around half naked in the house. I’m borderline married and this irritates me when my woman does it. It’s honestly kinda weird so not you aren’t an ass hole. Really all of you should cover up. Let me ask you this. Would you be comfortable if he’s walking around in nothing but his underwear? No right? Put on same damn clothes. You don’t live alone.

  1. Humans are not property. Your significant other / girlfriend / partner / [any endearing nickname], not "your" woman.

  2. The need to dress lightly is so one feels comfortable and/or doesn't overheat in the summer. Home is the place where someone should feel comfortable.

  3. This is an automated repost from reddit, done by a bot, so says the very first sentence. OP can't see your comment because they have likely never even heard of Lemmy, why are you responding at all?

I don’t care.
