career in tech, but out of touch with consumer hardware, looking for some pointers.

I currently have a ubiquiti edgerouter, but i'm over it, its outdated and clunky, and doesn't fit my use-case.

Internet connectivity is via WPA2 wifi. I want something with support for advanced networking (for my homelab), ideally a full linux system, but a closed system with a solid feature set is fine. No more ubiquiti hardware.

I'm on a budget in this instance, so nothing more than a couple hundred dollars, no subscriptions, etc.

Not sure if you are looking for routing or WLAN or what, but routing, I can recommend VyOS.
