For me, I don't tend to remember what I am listening to. It's more background noise. There might be times something interesting is said, then I'll shift my focus. I do it to have a cursory familiarity with the topic at hand, it makes it easier to refer to in the future if it's necessary since I'll already have a modicum of familiarity.
