My old person trait is that a digital file I paid for should be DRM free.

DRM-free FLACs where the artist gets the full cut.
We'll see how long that lasts with Epic Games owning bandcamp.
Music isn't the problem. I want to buy Movies and put it on my NAS, so I can watch it on any device with the player of my choice.
