United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in [email protected] or [email protected]
More serious politics should go in [email protected].
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Rape is not about lacking opportunity for consensual sex, it is about getting off on power. And getting away with it because people insist on making excuses like this for the powerful.
For anyone doubting this (the fact that rape is about power and NOT sexual desire), check out the books The Evil that Men Do and Dark Dreams by Roy Hazelwood. He was one of the first guys on the FBI's behavioral analysis unit, who specifically studied sexual crimes like rape and assault.
Read at your own risk, it's full of really dark stories. The information is really insightful though.
Being rich is not an alibi. Bill Cosby is rich. Harvey Weinstein is rich. Danny Masterson is rich. Donald Trump is rich.
what?
don't see how 'clever' enters into it one way or another. it's certainly not a trait that reduces the chances of being a predator.
predators aren't people who can't find willing partners, they're people who want unwilling victims.
you heard about another rich celebrity that was just sentenced to 30 years for rape?
occam's razor says no such thing. the legal principle presumption of innocence says innocent until proven guilty.
Man, the mods here really need to start doing something about the rampant rape apologia on the sub. Why even have mods if they won't ban shit like this?
The community, through downvotes, make it clear that this is not an acceptable opinion to have.
If I remove the post, unless people dig through the mod log, all that is left is a blank space.
I'm happy to listen to reasoning for a different path.
But I'm of the opinion that I'd rather let the community see the bad takes, and have the opportunity to show their distaste through downvotes. (This does have limits, understandably)
And then it says "No one cares about downvotes" or "downvotes don't matter" when you argue they actually do matter or that they need to be changed in some way.
Stop trying to push off your responsibilities onto others and do your damn job. You see rape apologia, you delete rape apologia. That's your job as a mod. If you can't be assed, find someone else to be a mod.
But don't come to me with a bunch of excuses to not do what you're supposed to be doing. Grow the fuck up and do it.
Did you just call Russell Brand clever? Lol
He's like Jordan Peterson just on some different drugs. Great at convincing dumb people that he's actually smart.
Anyone against the establishment will get these accusations and a big fuss will be made about it... remember Kavanaugh? There's many like him. But then when Biden sniffs teenagers and all kinds of allegations of corruption are exposed in a laptop with a district attorney in Ukraine, they call it a hack, sweep it under the rug, and vote him president.
It's partisanship nonsense. I feel bad for people who don't see it.
