I'm sure they're like DEI hire did it. But she was just the copilot anyways

In this leg she was the pilot handling the radios/comms, but she had a pilot-in-command type rating for the jet, and was fully qualified to be the pilot flying. Co-pilot isn't really the "assistant" position it is in the popular imagination. Usually two pilots swap roles between legs of a trip.

Plenty of men have flown their perfectly functioning planes into craters, some basically due to ego issues. None of them ignite a debate over the competency of men at the controls of aircraft though.

In this case, once you are that far into it, there is nothing you can do, you are quite literally along for the ride.

The idea that aviation is some kind of DEI-land is patently absurd to anybody in the field. It's 10x harder at a minimum to get into this industry if you aren't a cis white guy.

If you're getting liquid precipitation at FL350, yeah you're inside a hell of a storm. And if you lose the horizontal stabiliser/tail plane (which they did, it broke off before the aircraft hit the ground), there is no procedure for that. The aircraft is going to be pretty much impossible to control. Along for the ride for sure.
