That would have worked like circa 2010 but everyone fucking hates nerds now because destroying our planet. Maybe his PR team are a bunch of reddit millennial hanger-ons.

    I'd say it's still a purposeful effort to make him look more human, a "wacky eccentric" "outside of the establishment" "probably too smart to care about appearances" rather than looking like a stereotypical evil tech oligarch in a standard male haircut and office shirt + hiking vest
