The lemmy.ml admins couldn't handle someone pointing that any conversation about Palestine should be centered around the Palestinian victims undergoing a literal genocide and not on Judaism, because in the present day Jews are just privileged white people who aren't facing any systemic oppression but are even systemically privileged.

An instance pretending to give a voice for the the Global South in the end just censors non-Eurocentric opinions to the point of censoring for genocide.

Apparently they didn't instantly delete the comment after banning me but did so hours afterwards, probably because others agreed with me.

This part of the post pertains a feddit.uk post which I assumed was a crosspost but this was not removed by the lemmy.ml admin and this part can be ignored. Leaving it here for reference

The admins feddit.uk mods also removed a post from my own community because the post cites TheDailyMail and that is not a "reliable source" despite the headline being completely verified including a link to the UK government report itself. Might as well introduce MBFC next.

Here is TheGuardian saying the same thing: Government expected to accept recommendations of review, which found three in five Jewish students had experienced prejudice. And here is an even more extensive debunk of the report found on the "ultra radically left" /s Hasan Piker subreddit

No they didn't, I removed that post from !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk. You also didn't link to a report, you linked to a post by the Institute for Jewish Policy Research that neither corroborated the Daily Mail headline and isn't a UK government body, it's a think tank based in London. The closest that post says to the headline is "One in four parents reported their children experienced antisemitism when attending school".

And not believing the Daily Mail to be a reliable source isn't introducing MBFC, it's common sense. Though given how much of your news you clearly get from Twitter, I can see why this is hard for you to grasp.

And here is an even more extensive debunk of the report found on the “ultra radically left” /s Hasan Piker subreddit

A screenshot of Reddit post that itself is a screenshot of a Twitter post. It is right (grab the spreadsheet from here), but you should really try for better sources.

Thank you for the clarification. I will remove that part from my post as is incorrect. Also I did respond to a comment (of I believe you yourself?) with the link to the study.

My post is still correct. As is the Reddit post. And I'm not sure why you're talking as if the BBC and TheGuardian are any more reliable sources than the Daily Mail while they're putting out Zionist propaganda slop blitzes every day And then they have to be debunked by people on Twitter and Reddit because major UK newspapers cannot do basic due dilligence. And then you're here telling me I don't know where to get my news from?

Here is MEE having to lay out how completely fraudulent the UK government report was they used an incredibly low sample size of 70 Jewish students, on which they used the IHRA definition to conflate Zionism and antisemitism, and then mythically increased 41% to 70% because ????

Also I did respond to a comment (of Ibelieve you yourself?) with the link to the study and the link to it

Not me, someone who's since deleted their account. You also linked the Daily Mail article not the report.

My post is still correct. As is the Reddit post.

How are we suppose to know that? It's a screenshot and you never link to the original. Verifying that Reddit screenshot took quite some work on my part and I think it's the posters responsibility to bring the evidence, not the mods to find and verify it.

And I’m not sure why you’re talking as if the BBC and TheGuardian are any more reliable sources than the Daily Main while they’re putting out Zionist propaganda slop blitzes every day which then have to be debunked by people on Twitter and Reddit because major UK newspapers cannot do basic due dilligence. And then you’re here telling me I don’t know where to get my news from?

I'm a trans person living in Britain, you'll hear no love for the Guardian or BBC from me. But the Daily Mail is still significantly worse than both of them. Just because we sometimes have to get our information from bad sources doesn't mean we should lower our standards to the Mariana Trench.

I also need to emphasis that Twitter is not a place you should be getting your news from (or be on at all for that matter). It amplifies far-right accounts and studies have shown it makes you more right wing. Frankly I don't think we allow stuff from there at all.

Here is MEE having to lay out how completely fraudulent the UK government report was they used an incredibly low sample size of 70

I never defended the report, I don't know why you're making it out like I have. I agree that 70 is a piss poor sample size to draw conclusions from.

on which they used the IHRA definition to conflate Zionism and antisemitism

No? It was self-reported. The students may be conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism, but the survey just asks if they've experienced or witnessed antisemitism and takes them at their word.

then mythically increased 41% to 70%

    I think you mean 60%?

I really thought I linked the original study but if I didn't then my bad though I can't check well since my other account is gone and navigating deleted comments is too clunky for me so I'll just concede this one.

As or the rest I'm using the MEE article I trust them to have better read the report but they are putting lines in quote marks so I assume they did I'll quote relevant article lines below

    No? It was self-reported.

"The Bell review used the IHRA definition of antisemitism, according to its published terms of reference."

    I think you mean 60%?

    Yes my bad typo

"Of the 92 Jewish students, 70 of them responded to a question about whether they have personally experienced or witnessed antisemitism. Twenty-nine Jewish students said they had experienced antisemitism, which equalled 41 percent of the Jewish respondents, not three in five, which would be 60 percent."

I think you're getting two things muddled up here:

    • The report does say to use the IHRA definition for antisemitism
    • The UCAS survey where the 'three in five' figure is from just asks students if they've witnessed or experienced antisemitism, it does not enforce any definition of antisemitism
