The lemmy.ml admins couldn't handle someone pointing that any conversation about Palestine should be centered around the Palestinian victims undergoing a literal genocide and not on Judaism, because in the present day Jews are just privileged white people who aren't facing any systemic oppression but are even systemically privileged.

An instance pretending to give a voice for the the Global South in the end just censors non-Eurocentric opinions to the point of censoring for genocide.

Apparently they didn't instantly delete the comment after banning me but did so hours afterwards, probably because others agreed with me.

This part of the post pertains a feddit.uk post which I assumed was a crosspost but this was not removed by the lemmy.ml admin and this part can be ignored. Leaving it here for reference

The admins feddit.uk mods also removed a post from my own community because the post cites TheDailyMail and that is not a "reliable source" despite the headline being completely verified including a link to the UK government report itself. Might as well introduce MBFC next.

Here is TheGuardian saying the same thing: Government expected to accept recommendations of review, which found three in five Jewish students had experienced prejudice. And here is an even more extensive debunk of the report found on the "ultra radically left" /s Hasan Piker subreddit

I really thought I linked the original study but if I didn't then my bad though I can't check well since my other account is gone and navigating deleted comments is too clunky for me so I'll just concede this one.

As or the rest I'm using the MEE article I trust them to have better read the report but they are putting lines in quote marks so I assume they did I'll quote relevant article lines below

No? It was self-reported.

"The Bell review used the IHRA definition of antisemitism, according to its published terms of reference."

I think you mean 60%?

Yes my bad typo

"Of the 92 Jewish students, 70 of them responded to a question about whether they have personally experienced or witnessed antisemitism. Twenty-nine Jewish students said they had experienced antisemitism, which equalled 41 percent of the Jewish respondents, not three in five, which would be 60 percent."

I think you're getting two things muddled up here:

    • The report does say to use the IHRA definition for antisemitism
    • The UCAS survey where the 'three in five' figure is from just asks students if they've witnessed or experienced antisemitism, it does not enforce any definition of antisemitism
