Above all else evangelicals want to feel good about their bigotry and use religion as a shield for said bigotry.

Yeah, seeing "I'm christian" is just white identitarianism a lot of the time. A lot of these people I see don't go to church and are using being white as being moral vs. immigrants/foreigners.
