I disagree wholeheartedly. Both parties, while not the same, are objectively instruments of capital and serve exclusively to extend the longevity of its hegemony over society and the rest of the world (as the US is the largest global progenitor of imperialism). Any reforms we get are merely a side effect of it being whatever assuages people in society enough to stave off any kind of true revolutionary moment that would fundamentally reverse the polarity of power. The Democratic party has no interest in corporate control or combating militarism because at it's core these are what drive US power at home and abroad. They may play lip service to these things from time to time. They may slap a fine on a company or prevent a merger here and there but fundamentally they will not work to change the hands of power back to the people where it belongs. The Democratic party has been doing this for decades and decades. It is nothing new. The political climate we are in today is a logical continuation of the work both parties have been engaging in since long before you are I were ever around to comment on it.
