Oh, I guess I'm the only one who has seen all of the documentaries over 30+ years filmed from a helicopter with the pilot pointing out how alarmingly fast glaciers are receding as the camera person zooms in on bare rocks.

Maybe I should be a famous fucking scientist, because the loudest ones are obviously being paid to ease panic.

This was actually an interesting article about a model of glacier melt, taking into account how seawater was interacting with the rim of the glaciers to cause them to melt even faster than previously realized (which was already fast). Reframing this as ‘famous scientists’ (what famous scientist was involved with this??) downplaying global warming instead is a wild misrepresentation of everything they did.

Brian Cox (the ex boy band member/ astrophysicist) off the top of my head.

Atty represents nature and he's been talking about it for waaaay longer than 30 years.

Even the newest episode of Simon Reeve's newest show (which was like two weeks ago) has him commenting on the very same thing I am referencing.

I'm not downplaying anything, I'm using humour to express concern.

Concern for a doomed planet, because the loudest and richest people can't be fucked to care for anything but themselves.
