Having both been that student and eventually that teacher*, I can say they are entirely correct in saying that. Now I am much more organized and it really does help. I do have to put more thought and effort in before starting to keep myself organized, but it makes a world of difference. I don't know what, if anything, someone could've told me at the time to get me organized, but looking back it would've done me much more good to get in the habit younger.
